Key Background

The 2025 Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show celebrates its 49th anniversary as America’s longest-running Independence Day celebration. This year’s fireworks will light the sky from four barges along the East River and include the Brooklyn Bridge, treating the eye to an otherworldly experience. Made up of over 80,000 shells and a 30-shade color scheme, the fireworks will produce intricate designs and dramatic effects like crackling crown jellyfish, comet fans, and ring bursts. The fireworks will be programmed to go as high as 1,000 feet above the sky, thus visible over extensive portions of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Macy’s beat it this year by incorporating projection mapping technology onto the Brooklyn Bridge. The addition provides a digital narrative to the fireworks, combining art and fireworks into a clearly patriotic tribute. The choreographed affair should take approximately 30 minutes and will be accompanied by a musical performance in celebration of American pride and unity.

Public viewing is available and open from various elevated sections of the FDR Drive, with entrances at Montgomery Street, Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place, and Broad Street. There will be an ADA-viewing area available at Murry Bergtraum Softball Field. Crowd management will be provided by the NYPD and has banned backpacks, large bags, alcohol, lawn chairs, drones, etc. for security assurance and open access to everyone alike.

And for those who would prefer to celebrate the holiday at home, the celebration will also be broadcast on NBC at 8 p.m. ET, with a live stream also accessible on Peacock. The fireworks countdown features music from name-brand performers like Lenny Kravitz, Jonas Brothers, Ava Max, and Trisha Yearwood, and is hosted by Ariana DeBose. This fusion of firework and music climaxes with an unforgettable celebration of the Fourth of July in New York City.
