Background-

Airbnb has named Pepijn Rijvers as its new Chief Business Officer, co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky announced in a company-wide email.

In his new role, Rijvers will lead Airbnb’s Homes, Hotels, Enterprise Operations and Global Markets businesses. He succeeds Dave Stephenson, who plans to leave Airbnb at the end of 2026 after eight years with the company.

Stephenson joined Airbnb as Chief Financial Officer before becoming the company’s first Chief Business Officer. During his time there, he built Airbnb’s Finance organisation and played a key role in the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its initial public offering. As Chief Business Officer, he oversaw the core Homes business, the launch of Hotels, and the introduction of Services and Experiences.

Stephenson will stay on with Airbnb through the end of the year to support a smooth transition. He also currently serves as Head of Employee Experience.

Fallon O’Connor, currently Vice President of Communications, will take on the newly created title of Head of Communications and People, adding people-related responsibilities to her existing communications role.

The leadership change marks a broader shift in Airbnb’s executive structure as the company moves into its next phase of growth across its various business lines.
