Nvidia CEO Says Marvell Could Become Next Trillion-Dollar Firm

Prime Highlights

  • Nvidia CEO called Marvell a potential trillion-dollar company.
  • Marvell shares jumped after the AI infrastructure endorsement.

Key Facts

  • Marvell develops chips for AI, cloud and data centre markets.
  • Nvidia recently committed a $2 billion investment in Marvell.

Background

The stock price of Marvell Technology went up before market opening following comments by the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, who said that Marvell Technology was capable of becoming a business worth a trillion dollars.

Speaking alongside Marvell CEO Matthew Murphy during Computex Week in Taipei in early June, Huang praised the company’s networking and connectivity technologies, which support the operation of large-scale AI data centres. Investor enthusiasm following the remarks pushed Marvell shares sharply higher, extending the stock’s strong performance this year.

Marvell designs chips used across data centres, cloud computing platforms, AI systems, enterprise networks, 5G infrastructure and automotive applications. The company has become an important supplier as technology firms invest heavily in AI infrastructure to support advanced computing workloads.

Huang said modern AI systems rely on thousands of connected chips working together across large data centres. He noted that high-speed connectivity has become essential because computing tasks are now distributed across vast networks that must exchange data quickly and efficiently. According to him, this growing need for connectivity has made Marvell a critical part of the AI ecosystem.

The comments come as demand for AI-related hardware continues to rise worldwide. Companies are increasing investments in servers, networking equipment and advanced chips to support generative AI applications and large language models.

NVIDIA has also strengthened its relationship with Marvell through a recent $2 billion investment. In addition, Nvidia is investing in companies developing photonics technology, which uses light instead of electricity to transfer data and is expected to improve efficiency in future data centres.

The most recent endorsement from Nvidia’s top executive points out how networking and connectivity solutions are getting more and more important, as AI infrastructure keeps expanding around the world.
